Focus Group Analysis

The key points of the focus group questions that I asked Skye and Curtis was that they really enjoyed the purge election year trailer and they also believe that it would have been better if they hadn't of shown them as much of the trailer as they did, this will be important in my trailer getting the balance right. It is conventional for horror films to have a good balance of scenes within the trailer as this is how they draw the audience into watching the actual film. 

Curtis felt like the lighting was very important to the way that the film trailer was put across to the audience, Curtis thought that it was very impressive the way the lighting was put into the trailer. It is conventional for the horror films to use low key lighting and usually lighting is very important to the portrayal of the film this is why Curtis felt like lighting was very important.  

Skye said that the settings of the film trailers were very important to the way the film trailer is set out and the way that it comes across to the audience, this is important to the convention of the horror genre, Skye made a valid point in saying that the location and setting made the trailer good, this is very important for me when i'm attempting to create my film trailer because if I can use the correct setting to target my audience with so they will want to watch my trailer.

Overall Skye and Curtis' feedback has helped me a lot with what my target audience would want to see within my film trailer. This feedback is very important in the sense that it allows me to vary my planning of my film trailer because I can know what the target audience like and what they think would make my film trailer look awful and be less conventional to the horror genre.

Audience Research Planning

The main strengths of my planning that was recognized by the target audience was that my locations were very conventional to the horror genre this is a big strength because obviously it means that the audience feel my location planning would be an advantage when actually making the film trailer. The audience also liked the presentation of my planning this is important because it showed that the target audience will be able to read my planning work more effectively. The audience obviously feel like my planning will impact my film because it got 100% yes feedback this is a strength because it means that if my planning as effective then it could mean that I should be able to make my film trailer effective to.

Even though there was many strengths there was one improvement that I would do to my planning if I was to plan for my film trailer again. I would add more detail into the script and the plot outline because the audience was split with a decision, it is important that the script and plot outline are effective for my target audience because it means that they are more likely to watch the trailer if they liked each individual part of my planning work.
